Circa 1960´s Thomas Brothers "BAY AREA FREEWAY AND ARTERY WALL MAP" that measures 49 inches by 67 inches... 4 ft x 5 1/2 ft...
(paper size) showing San Francisco and the surrounding area. San Francisco, Oakland, down to Santa Cruz and Stockton, north to Santa Rosa and Sacramento. We think it is from the 1960´s, but it is undated. Affixed to wooden dowels for hanging and rolling it up. Very good condition, with some closed tears to the bottom corners, where it attaches to the wooden dowels, with a little loss of lamination (see pics). Some older repair to the backside of the map at these spots, as shown in the close-up photos... Please check out those photos.
A bit of wear with color loss near the Bay Bridge as shown... (about 1 1/2 inch long by 1/4 inch wide). A bit of wear to edges, but the map area itself very good condition. We are not certain of the date it was made, but think Thomas Brothers was doing such maps in the 1960´s, for locations throughout California.
No date in the map legend or elsewhere. Someone probably knows from the dates freeways were completed how to date the map. For instance, the 505 is still two lanes at its northern section... The dotted roadways on the map are two lane roads/unfinished freeways. A real show stopper, and impressive when seen in person. The item "Large 4 ft x 5 ft SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA wall map Marin Sacramento Thomas Bros" is in sale since Sunday, February 28, 2021.
